I'm a student journalist originally from New York, studying at Northeastern University in Boston. I will graduate in May 2013.
In early July 2012, I take another step toward becoming an international reporter; I will be living in Italy for six months, through the rest of the year. For the first time in my life, I finally feel like a European, like I'm where I'm supposed to be.
Over the course of the summer, for two months, I will be living abroad in Perugia, the capital city of the Umbria region, located in the heart of Italy. I will begin my study of the Italian language at the Universita per Stranieri di Perugia, one of the oldest and most prestigious education institutions of language instruction in the country. It was founded in 1921, during the fascist period.
As the summer comes to a close, I will relocate farther south, to Spoleto. During my four months there, I will be functioning as an international reporter at TuttOggi, the premier online news outlet of the Umbria region.
Unlike my time in Jordan, I will not be within a group of student peers and under the supervision of American professors. This is it, this is real life; I am out here in the world on my own, and very excited about it. I will be writing about life throughout the boot, as I travel to and visit as many sites and cities as I can in this beautiful Mediterranean peninsula nation.
